Ok this is my first time at trying anything like this so I guess ill start at the beginning
I wanted a better Fm transmitter so I kept my eyes open and saw this on digg.com a while back Tunecast mod So I said why not because I never used the thing because it killed to many batteries
And thats the only reason I decided to try and mod the itrip mini because it didnt need batteries
So I pretty much just did the same thing as the tuncase mod
Note: Modifying this device will most certainly void your warranty and might be against the law.
First things first you have to open the itrip which I found was harder then it looked they glue it shut so after trying to pry it open with a knife I got mad and just took a hammer to it nice and soft on the edge that did the trick and opened it up this was what was inside
The white wire is the antenna and thats about all I know and thats all I needed to know so after I knew I could add a new antenna I went ahead and made one I may have not made the best one in the world but again I am new at this I just had some copper wire around so I wrapped it around a calculator I had handy and it turned out like this
So after I had that made I went ahead and desolder the old antenna out and solder the new one I made in which took me some time because I have only solder a few times in my life and I sure every one out there will laugh a my soldering job but it worked so aim happy with it
After that there is nothing left to do but snap it closed and test it out I would say you could super glue it but I didnt because I am most likely going to change the antenna to a better one once I figured out what to change it to but thats it this it what it looked like when I was done
Anyone out there can take and do what ever they want with this mod and the pics and ideas on this DIY try and make it better or post it anywhere . I like to call it the "Free-Reign License".
